The following virtual supports a Stage 3 History investigation of the Whitlam Institute. This site study aims to help students explore how Australian society changed during the twentieth century. 

Through this site, students will engage with photographs and archival material to investigate how individuals and governments can shape the rights and freedoms of Australians.

HS3-HIS-01: Examines and describes the development of Australian colonies and Australia as a nation, using sources as evidence

HS3-DEM-01: Describes the origins and features of Australia's democratic system of government and laws

HS3-CWT-01: creates written texts to communicate ideas and understanding about people, places and events of the past and the present

Students will use sources to describe how Australia grew from colonies into a nation and how its democratic government and laws began, and will write texts to share their understanding
